I would like to sample someone’s song

a. This requires special permission from publishers and there is a clearance process.

b. You’ll most likely need an MP3 of your new song as well as details of the release – title, artist, names of the composers of your new song.

My client / I would like to use music in a campaign

a. This requires special permission with a clearance process and fee. For commercial music the fee is negotiated with the publisher. For Production/Library Music, please contact CAPASSO.

b. For Commercial Music, you’ll need to provide the publisher with detailed information on your campaign including term, media, territory, products / brands and budget.

I want to translate or change a song

a. This requires special permission from publishers and there is a clearance process.

b. If you want to translate or change lyrics, you’ll need to provide a copy of your new lyrics with a re-translation back into English. For changes to the music, you’ll most likely need an MP3 of your new song as well as details of the release – title, artist, names of the composers of your new song.

a. The South African act is very specific about Fair Dealing (note this is different from ‘Fair Use’)
