MPASA AGM 2025
MPASA held its Annual General Meeting on 15 December 2025 at The Capital Empire, located at 177 Empire Place in Sandhurst, Sandton.
2025’s AGM was especially meaningful as it marked the 10‑year anniversary of the association, which celebrated a decade of supporting, advocating for, and strengthening the South African music publishing industry.
Following the AGM proceedings, members enjoyed a celebratory afternoon filled with festivities, crafted to showcase the magic and history of the music our members represent.
The MPASA Board Grows
The 2025 AGM saw members vote in favour of the inclusion of two new additions: Craig McGahey (Mama Dance) and Karabo Ndobela (Prez Record Music) respectively. While Malcolm Burger, Noluthando Makhunga, and Natalie Sanderson-Kasner who were up for director rotation this year received votes in favor of the respective resolutions to remain as directors.
MPASA Committee Highlights
Membership & Communications Committee
Chair: Ms. Weltsman
2025 was a big year for our membership family! We wrapped up with 84 members, our strongest year yet, and saw more people engaging with MPASA than ever before. Our social media platforms hit record highs, the 10‑Year Legacy Campaign sparked amazing conversations, and our workshops and events were buzzing with activity. Ms. Weltsman sent a heartfelt thanks to everyone involved and expressed how she’s excited to keep building on this momentum in 2026!
CMO Committee
Chair: Ms. Mogapi
The CMO Committee kept things moving by building stronger, clearer communication lines with the CMOs we rely on. One of the biggest highlights was the resumption of the Music In Productions Industry Task Team (MIPITT), created to help tackle long‑standing production and process challenges faced by our members. Looking to 2026, the goal is even closer collaboration and smoother systems to create a better experience for all rightsholders.
Advocacy & Industry Development Committee
Chair: Ms. Makhunga
In the committee’s efforts working towards amplifying the voice and value of music publishers across South Africa and the continent, a major milestone was achieved in MPASA strengthening relationships with other African organisations, including moving toward a formal partnership with MPAN in Nigeria.
The committee also took on big-picture projects:
- developing a metadata and licensing infrastructure scorecard (launching 2026!),
- creating an easy‑to‑use industry glossary for new publishers,
- and contributing South African insights to global policy discussions through the ICMP International CMO Sweep.
Finance Committee
Chair & Treasurer: Mr. Makondo
The Finance Committee chair presented the Annual Financial Statements for the year ending 31 December 2024. While some savings were realised due to unrolled projects, the committee noted that MPASA was on the lookout for ways to establish new revenue streams to help strengthen the association’s long‑term sustainability.
As we at MPASA continue to honour the milestones and the community that has carried the organisation through ten impactful years, MPASA extends its sincere gratitude to every member who attended and contributed to the success of this important gathering.
