MPASA’s Unforgettable Experience at FAME Week Africa 2024
A Celebration of Music, Creativity, and Connection
MPASA made an unforgettable mark at FAME Week Africa 2024! From September 2-4, Cape Town became the epicenter of Africa’s creative industries, and MPASA was front and center with an expanded presence, hosting two content sessions critical to the music industry, that had attendees locked in and engaged.
This year, our bold stand became a hub of energy and connection, embodying MPASA’s mission to uplift the music publishing industry. Having several MPASA members attending and actively participating in the conference activities while engaging with industry peers and leaders is exactly the experience envisioned and intended for them. Creating a platform for our members to expand their network reach and create long standing partnerships and collaborations is a valuable mandate and we are happy we could create this impact in Cape Town!
Inspiring Panel & Masterclass
Our panel session on music sync licensing, brought together experts like Zweli Sisilana Mavuka (Sheer Publishing), Kelly Grevler (Universal Production Music South Africa), Olefile Samuel Rabolele (Film producer of “He’s Not Ready”), Craig McGahey (MamaDance), and Mzwandile Sibanda (Africa Creative Publishing) to share their knowledge. The panel sparked exciting conversations that aimed to bridge the gap in understanding the sync license processes experienced between music users, production music library holders and commercial music publishers.
We also hosted a Masterclass session featuring the renowned music supervisor, Marc Algranti, which was equally impactful, as he showcased the emotional power of music in storytelling and leaving attendees inspired.
