Music Publishing Agreements

Our second episode of our Unlocked Series will be about Music Publishing Agreements.  This workshop is important as it speaks to a big issue currently experienced by independent/up and coming music publishers: the lack of knowledge on music publishing agreements and the lack of access or funding to conclude agreements.  As a Music publishing business, it is important to understand that music publishing is the business of promotion and monetization of musical compositions: music publishers ensure that songwriters receive royalties for their compositions, facilitate collaboration between composers and artists, and also work to generate opportunities for those compositions to be licensed.  Through a music publishing agreement, a songwriter or composer assigns or licenses the copyright of their composition to a publishing company.
